About
The American Friends of the Israel Museum (AFIM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting The Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
Situated on a serene 20-acre campus, the Israel Museum is home to the world’s most extensive collection of art and Holy Land archaeology, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest surviving biblical manuscript. From prehistory to the present, from Africa to Asia to the Americas, the Museum contains an encyclopedic collection of nearly 500,000 pieces.
Since our inception in 1972, AFIM has raised over $450 million for the Museum’s exhibitions, art acquisitions, educational and outreach programs, curator training, and more. As an early supporter of the Museum, AFIM’s pioneering model has spurred the creation of similar organizations in 16 countries.
Beyond financial support, AFIM inspires collectors and raises awareness of the Museum with artist studio visits, exhibition tours, art collection visits, national and international trips, benefit galas, and other events and gatherings. Through these efforts, AFIM has helped create a global network of individuals committed to supporting Jerusalem’s Israel Museum.
