Baltimore and Washington, DC
November 6–7, 2019
We began our overnight trip in Baltimore, where we enjoyed lunch at the home of Connie Caplan, followed by a visit to the Meyerhoff collection. From there we traveled to Washington, DC, where we visited Emily and Mitchell Rales’ newly expanded Glenstone Foundation, followed by lunch at the home of Courtney and Jonathan Spaeth.
Athens
June 8–12, 2017
Following the 2017 International Council, a group of 20 AFIM supporters travelled on to Athens. The trip included archeological sites, private collection visits, and Documenta locations. We enjoyed lunch at the home of collectors Lietta and Dakis Joannou, visits to the Acropolis Museum, Jewish Museum of Greece, and the Cycladic Museum, Shabbat dinner at the home of Rebecca Camhi, and joined the Israeli Friends for dinner oat the home of Constantine Papageorgiou.
Bentonville, Arkansas
November 7–8, 2018
Twenty AFIM supporters enjoyed an overnight trip to Bentonville, Arkansas to visit Crystal Bridges. The visit began with a sunset viewing of the James Turrell skyspace. The following day the group visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson house, toured the North Forest trail with artist Brian Tolle, and enjoyed a private tour of the permanent collection of the museum.
Chicago
September 20–22, 2019
The AFIM Associates traveled to Chicago in 2019 during Expo Chicago. In addition to local fairs, museums, galleries, we visited the collections of Marilyn and Larry Fields, Gael Neeson and Stefan Edlis, Helyn Goldenberg, Susan Manilow, Denis Weil, De and Paul Gray, Donna Stone, Gary Metzner and Scott Johnson, and Stanley Green. Shabbat dinner was hosted by Jo Ann Seagren and Scott Lang, and Christie’s hosted a dinner at Soho House. We also enjoyed a private tour of Theaster Gates’s Rebuild Foundation on the South Side.
Venice
June 11–15, 2015
About 50 AFIM supporters participated in the 2015 Post-Council trip to Venice. They were joined by Mira Lapidot, Yulla and Jacques Lipchitz Chief Curator of the Fine Arts Wing. Mira led the group through the Venice Biennale as well as sites throughout Venice. The schedule included visits to Palazzo Fortuny, the Cini Foundation and Punta della Dogana as well as extraordinary visits to private palazzos, and dinner with supporters of the Guggenheim.
Amsterdam
June 9–12, 2016
After the International Council in 2016, AFIM led a trip to Amsterdam. The schedule included visits to designers Joris Laarman, Marcel Wanders and Studio Drift and artists Rineke Djikstra, and Jacco Olivier; a collection visit to the home of Renee and Bob Drake; many museum visits; Shabbat dinner hosted by US Consul General David McCawley; and visits to the Anne Frank house and the Portuguese synagogue.
Toronto

Our Associates enjoyed an exciting itinerary in the Canadian city, including visits to the private collections of Pauline Menkes, Joe Shlesinger and Samara Walbohm, Tamara and Gary Fine, Barry and Debra Campbell, and Shabbat dinner at the home of Wendy and Elliot Eisen. Other stops were the studios of Kent Monkman and Charles Pachter, the corporation collection at Torys LLP, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and Cooper Cole and Daniel Faria galleries.
Tel Aviv

Marfa and Houston

AFIM supporters enjoyed five days in Marfa and Houston visiting private collections and museums. In Marfa, the group spent the day touring the Chinati Foundation, the Judd Foundation and Ballroom Marfa and were hosted for dinner in the home of Fairfax Dorn. In Houston, we visited many private collections, were hosted for cocktails and dinners by Israel Museum supporters and saw the Rothko Chapel, the Menil Collection, the home of Dominique and John de Menil, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum, Houston.
Hudson Valley
July 14–16, 2016
The program included visits to the studios of artists Terry Winters, Tip Dunham and Laurie Simmons; collection viewings at the homes of Ruth and Bil Ehrlich; Lauren and Mark Booth, Allison and Neil Rubler, BZ and Michael Schwartz, and Federic de Vera; visits to the Re Institute, where the group met artists Judy Pfaff and Henry Klimowicz; The School in Kinderhook; and Olana State Historic Site, the home of Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900), one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting.
Cuba

AFIM supporters traveled to Havana, Cuba in the fall of 2014. The trip included four days exploring art and architecture, alongside visits to the synagogue and the Jewish Community Center, artists’ studios, museums, art foundations, meals in noted Paladars, and a farewell dinner hosted in a private home.
London
November 4–7, 2016
Our Associates joined the IMJ Internationals in London for an art-filled weekend. They began the trip with Shabbat dinner at the home and gallery of Marissa Bellani. Other highlights included visits to the collections of Wendy Fisher and Giorgina and Michael Djanogly, and a private viewing of the newly reopened Sir John Soane’s Museum, among numerous other galleries, artist studios and private collections.
