Overview

AFIM supporters are treated to art-centric trips to luxurious destinations around the world. Those who travel with us enjoy an in-depth examination of a city’s art scene through rare viewings of private collections, artist studios, and foundations as well as dinners hosted by major art patrons and collectors, educational discussions led by art historians, and so much more. Previous destinations have included Cuba, Chicago, Marfa, Seattle, and San Francisco.

Each year during our visit to Jerusalem for the International Council, participants join supporters from 16 Friends groups from around the world for four days at the Israel Museum in June. Guests enjoy curator led exhibition tours, talks with guest artists, curatorial workshops, visits to private collections, studio tours, and festive meals.

Following Jerusalem, AFIM holds a post-Council trip, often to a European city. In the past, we have taken in the sights of Athens, Amsterdam, Egypt, Florence, Istanbul, Moscow, Southern France, Petra, Venice, and beyond.

  • “The experience at International Council brought my childhood memory of the museum together with my current connection with AFIM into a whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts. It revived that early memory, gave it a more contemporary twist, and populated it with new friends and great memories. It’s like the lights suddenly went off and everything has fallen into place. “

  • “Traveling with AFIM to Israel to celebrate the Israel Museum’s 50th anniversary was one of the highlights of my life. We not only enjoyed amazing programming and exclusive access to this very special museum, but I also made lifelong friends.”
